The Toronto Public Library (TPL) is the busiest urban public library system in the world. The impact the library has on our community is immense. Each year, millions of visitors use its services, empowering Torontonians with the use of technology and the expansion of knowledge. With access to technology, cultural experiences and information, the TPL has been able to increase the opportunities for growth and success for many people, and it has helped visitors build strong connections to each other and their communities across the city.
“ THE IMPACT THE LIBRARY HAS ON OUR COMMUNITY IS IMMENSE.”
After a two-year hiatus, Biblio Bash brought out the city’s most stylish philanthropists, authors, city builders, media, arts and culture supporters, donors and business executives, and more than $830,000 was raised for the TPL Foundation, which was established to help build a city of lifelong readers and learners. The funds raised will be used to provide digital support for the city’s most vulnerable residents. In our increasingly digital world, the TPL strives to break down barriers for those who face challenges accessing technology services such as computers and Wi-Fi. These dollars will provide families and individuals with internet connectivity kits that instantly provide internet access, something that impacts their lives in a real and immediate way. Together, we make certain that all Torontonians have free access to the resources they need to succeed and thrive.
