On May 4, the inaugural UNMET Gala, celebrating Toronto’s diversity with the theme “Come as You Are,” gathered the city’s top philanthropic leaders and raised more than $1.5 million in support of WoodGreen Community Services, Toronto’s largest non-governmental affordable housing provider.
Inspired by the heritage of the gala co-chairs, Krystal Koo and Fernanda Dovigi, the UNMET Gala was a celebration of diversity, reimagining the Royal Ontario Museum as a vibrant fusion of Chinese and Brazilian cultures, adorned in feathers, fiery hues and brilliant jewels. The night featured an impressive lineup of entertainment and offerings, as vibrant Brazilian cocktails welcomed guests, while samba dancers and a captivating dragon dance captured guests’ imaginations.
“WoodGreen’s work is critical to the health and vibrancy of our city, and we wanted to shine a light on the transformative impact it has had on the lives of hundreds of thousands of people,” says Koo, who has been a WoodGreen Foundation board member since 2018. (You can read more about the foundation’s work on page 54.) “It’s been an honour to celebrate WoodGreen as a trusted and compassionate ally for so many.”
