Living Luxe: For homeowners who want to downsize from a large home to something smaller, a condo is often the ideal choice. But people used to a certain level of luxury and quality want to keep that after they move. How will Yonge City Square allow them to maintain that lifestyle?
Steve Gupta: We’re offering thoughtfully designed spacious suites with oversized balconies to create a resort-like experience for modern urban living. Suites will feature smooth-finish ceilings up to 12 feet high. They’ll range in size from one to three bedrooms, and it will be possible to combine units. Kitchens will have stainless steel appliances, and spa-inspired bathrooms will feature both showers and tubs. Buyers will be able to choose from designer-selected flooring and finishes.
LL: What was your inspiration for this, the resort kind of feel?
SG: When you go to a resort, everything is included. We’re offering a similar experience. We’ll have an outdoor pool, private cabanas, a firepit and quiet areas where you can sit and read a book or enjoy the green surroundings. It’s a huge area; in effect, we’ll have an almost 280-acre backyard. You can go to nearby York Mills Valley Park year-round for activities such as hiking, biking, and running, and the complex will back onto the Don Valley Golf Course. It’s like an extension of your living space. Indoors we’ll offer a golf simulator, a mini-golf course, and a fitness centre. There’s also a party room with a gourmet kitchen. In the building will be two restaurants: one for casual fare, and one for fine dining. And there will be various shops at ground level.
LL: What other amenities will you offer at Yonge City Square?
SG: Units will have fibre-optic access to the internet, with two connection points per unit. The parking garage will have charging stations for electric vehicles. We’ll have a business centre, a library, a cozy lounge with a fireplace. Other diversions include an art gallery and a private movie theatre, a games room and a children’s playground. There will be 24-hour concierge service and full security throughout the building. Although not strictly amenities, there are two other things I should mention that will be benefits to the greater community in general. One is that this project alone will create millions of man-hours, many jobs, and hundreds of millions in taxes. The other is that, for every unit sold, we’ll donate $1000 to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and, if necessary, we’ll top up the fund so that it reaches $1 million.
LL: What are the advantages to buying in an area such as Hoggs Hollow instead of, say, downtown?
SG: Location is prime. Yonge City Square will be at the corner of Yonge St. and York Mills Road. There are three shopping centres within 10 minutes. Downtown is 20 minutes by subway, and we’ll have an entrance to the York Mills station through our complex. The complex is uniquely positioned near other sought-after neighbourhoods such as Bedford Park, Bayview Village, Lawrence Park, Willowdale and the Bridle Path, and will connect residents to diverse leisure, shopping, dining and entertainment options in all directions. We’re also one minute from the 401.
LL: And when will this fantastic project be ready for occupancy?
SG: People will be able to move in by autumn 2027 through to spring 2028.
