The unique home decor brand has made a huge splash in Oakville. Welcome to the new KARE Toronto.

When it came time to fête the grand opening of KARE Toronto’s new location in Oakville, Ont., on Thursday May 5, more than 150 friends of the unique furniture and accessories brand celebrated into the evening.

After moving from the former Queen Street location several months ago, KARE Toronto franchise owner Edilka Anderson and KARE creative director Carla Guzman were thrilled to open their doors to a host of VIP guests, including Oakville’s mayor, Rob Burton; the Oakville Chamber of Commerce; as well as KARE’s Carsten Pedersen, business development manager of the Americas; and Peter Schönhofen, KARE’s cofounder (who travelled from Germany with his daughter, Julia, to attend this special event).

Oakville is the perfect home for the brand — it’s a sought-after location for businesses and many of KARE’s clients are nearby. “Downtown Oakville is exactly what we were looking for. We are so excited to be part of such a growing city , rich in culture, and its citizens really do support their local businesses,” says Anderson. “Th e new store is a bigg er space and we’re able to showcase more products. Th e space has a very high ceiling and feels light and airy. We’re also able to have an offi ce where we can off er our clients bett er service. The space really allows the consumer to experience the lifestyle concept of KARE.”

Schönhofen, who launched the brand 40 years ago, started KARE to celebrate individualism. Today, with 100 franchises in 50 countries (including two in Canada), he says this new location really speaks to the essence of the brand. “Location is so important. We believe in creating an atmosphere that has beautiful interiors, good people and a place where clients like to go. Th at’s the reason we believe in brick-and-mortar stores,” Schönhofen says. “Th is location is wonderful, as it’s not in the big city where you’re just another store. Instead, you’re greeted into a welcoming atmosphere where you’ll fi nd unique items you won’t fi nd in other stores.”

Anderson is excited to start the next chapter of the business. “We believe KARE’s creative designs are what people have been craving. We bring something different to the industry. It’s a lifestyle that gives clients the opportunity to express themselves and bring some colour and fun into their lives,” she says.
